If you thought you knew the Europa hotel well… think again!! In the run up to the MTV EMA’s after show party on the 6th November 2011 it received the ultimate makeover!! It was swiftly returned to its former self and so this is a captured moment in time.

As you can imagine it takes some time to get approval to use pictures from events such as the MTV EMA’s which is understandable. We can now let you in to the amazing world of set design created by the fabulous after show party set designers!

The after show party production team were amazing to work with and we were so delighted to be part of the set build crew! It was an amazing experience.

Designco are very proud of our involvement across a variety of areas and events at the years MTV EMA’s in Belfast some of which we can’t talk about!! But we are immensely proud to have been involved in so many areas with so many lovely people all working towards the same goal and delighted to say our wee city definitely pulled it off!!!! The top honours were handed out at a star-studded evening at the Culloden Hotel attended by the Northern Ireland business community.

We were responsible for designing and building the set backdrop. We invited some of our clients and suppliers to event and enjoyed being part of the occassion as well as sponsoring the Business Consultancy of the Year category – Congratulations to Clarendon Executive!!

Hughes Insurance was named company of the year, in association with easyJet. Well done to all at Hughes!!

A total of 430 guests attended the awards gala evening, with top class entertainment provided by The American Four Tops, Welsh tenor Wynne Evans (star of the Go Compare TV commercials) and Irish violinist Patricia Treacy.

Winners across 15 different categories were chosen by a panel of judges, including UTV’s Business Editor Jamie Delargy, Business Eye Editor Richard Buckley as well as leading local business journalists.

The evening was a great success and congrats to all involved!!

Qualitrol Exhibiting in Indonesia!

Qualitrol had a brief that required us to be very clever and provide a compact, portable exhibtion solution  that could travel the world in one unit and be easily handeled by staff across the globe.

Qualitrol are the largest and most trusted global leader for partial discharge monitoring, asset protection equipment and information products across generation, transmission and distribution. Understandably the exhibition stand had to hold the products and discreetly have the ability to power them, they had to safely travel within the contained flight case and the easily mount the face of the exhibition box which also travels within the case, a 10 minute set up time is all it takes! we are happy to say it now travels all over the world and was just recently in Indonesia!

Business Improvements Through Environmental Solutions 'BITES'

Designco have taken steps to enhance their sustainability and promote their long-term competitiveness.

Representatives from 10 companies across the city including designco have completed the award-winning BITES (Business Improvements Through Environmental Solutions) programme, which is funded by Belfast City Council with support from the European Regional Development Fund.

The one-year programme looked at environmental management and resource efficiency in the workplace with participants learning how to identify savings to be made in purchasing, transport, energy and water costs.

Not only did we enjoy taking part of the programme as a result we have successfully managed to divert 80% of our waste from landfill as well as identifying  a lot of energy savings!! We would recommend this course to any SME’s.
